Good evening players and families,

It is hard to believe that we are honing in on the end of the season, yet here we are!  Having navigated the difficulties inherent in our move to consolidate in Cornwall, we on the board are breathing a sigh of relief!  Many thanks to our Cornwall partners, particularly John Sanders, for all they have done to make this happen.  With record numbers of players -- we placed more than 20% more kids on teams this season --we did not know what to expect.  Thanks, too, to you families who rolled with the new plan and made the necessary adjustments. We are pleased to welcome Nina Money and Kevin Lafond to the NUSC board to help us manage our continued growth!

As of now, our ten teams have had a varied season.  Some teams, young and beset with injuries, have struggled to score.  Others such as the u9 boys, coached by Alex Levy and Julio Salcedo, are leading their divisions.  Also within striking distance of league championships are the u11 A boys team coached by Sean McCabe and Jenn Pollitt, now in second place, the u13 boys B team coached by Scott Francis and Scott Stiffler, also in second.  The u10 A boys coached by Becky Siebold, Greg Ostling and Kevin Snow are currently in third place as are the u13/14 girls coached by Dean Diamond. Caspar Luard, James Gladstone and Steve Dodge.  Kudos to all and, even though the year-end wrap-ups at school can be distracting, let's commit to the last few practices and Skills sessions and make the most of the last few games!

Speaking of Skills...the ever-popular World Cup tourney nears.  Please get in touch with Scott Francis ( to get signed up for a team.  The games will take place June 12, times tbd.

The portal is now open for fall registration -  Early-bird registration and pricing of $150 per child is in effect now until June 15.  Please remember the discount is applied at checkout.  June 16-July 1 is the period for regular registration at $190.

The Olympic Development program for older players and the Young Player Development Program for u13/14 players are CJSA-sponsored programs for travel players.  These programs identify and train talented youngsters from across Connecticut.  If interested, please visit

Lastly, a shout-out for our Premier team, led by Chris McGlashan.  For those of you who do not know, the Premier League is a step up in competitiveness from the Classic Travel League where our other teams play.  Our Premier team, currently in fourth place in a very tough division, plays their final game of the season this coming Sunday, June 5 at Foote Field at 5:30.  If you have never seen them play, think about coming out to support them.  The level of play is impressive and can give you an idea of where hard work can take young players.  If you can, come out and give them support in their bid to move into third!

All the best,

KK Kozik, president, and the rest of the Northwest United board
